The World's First Slow Island (Cittaslow): Gökçeada

Cittaslow is an international association of municipalities founded in Italy in 1999. Derived from the Italian word "Città" and the English word "Slow," "Cittaslow" means "Slow City."
Gökçeada became the world's first slow island to receive the Cittaslow title in June 2011. It has begun to attract those from both within Turkey and abroad who wish to engage in organic farming.
